05/15/2012 2012 Best of New Haven County
Thank you the the New Haven Advocate and it's many readers for voting Duck Pond Learning Center as one of the best in the area. We appreciate your recognition of the hard work we do for children and families. This is a wonderful tribute as we begin our 20th year in Branford.

03/28/2012 Scholastic Book Sales
Every five or six weeks you will have new book order forms available. Please do not feel any obligation to purchase anything. We offer this as a service to parents who might have an interest in growing thier children's library or purchase books as gifts for holidays, birthday gifts, etc. However, the center does receive points for every book purchased which we, in turn, will use to purchase books for our school library. Please see Amy for additional information. We appreciate your support. Thanks.
|
03/28/2012 Classroom availability
We continue to enroll childen throughout the year. We strive to meet the needs of your family and will work with you to find a schedule to accomodate yours. We are quite full in most of our classrooms, but we know that some children will be moved up to the next level soon and this will create some space for new families. Please contact us to arrange for a tour and to meet our staff if you would like to find our more about us.

12/21/2010 Ilness in Child Care Centers
One of the biggest concerns parents have to contend with is a sick child. If that child is in day care it can be very difficult on the parent who must take time off from work to care for the child. However, there is a positve side to this! Recently the New York Times published a story by Roni Caryn Rabin that states that children have more respiratory and ear infections in group settings, but once they go to elementary school they are healthier than children who have not been in child care. The children who begin school with an established immune system are at an advantage because they don't miss many days when they are learning to read and write.
Duck Pond has been explaining this to parents for years. Any child in any group of child is likely to become ill early and parents need to make their employers aware of this. Hopefully they work for family friendly employers. |

02/02/2008 Ideas for feeding your child
We have many books are in our parent/staff resource collection of materials that can be borrowed. The cookbooks that have been added have many ideas for feeding babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Duck Pond discourages highly processed and prepackaged lunches. Please take a look at the new books. Most of the ideas are easy and quick to prepare.
